What Square Invoices is

Square Invoices is the invoicing part of Square, Block's payments platform. The Square Free plan has no monthly fee and includes unlimited invoices, estimates, contracts with e-signature, recurring invoices (daily, weekly, monthly or yearly), automatic reminders, and your logo and brand colors. Square Plus ($49 a month per location) and Square Premium ($149) lower the online card rate from 3.3% + 30¢ to 2.9% + 30¢ and add custom templates and fields, PDF sharing, multi-package estimates that convert to invoices automatically, and inventory purchase orders. Clients pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Cash App Pay, ACH or Afterpay. Square works in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, Japan, France and Spain, in one currency per account.

What Invoxa is

Invoxa is invoicing software with one plan. Invoxa Pro costs $5.99 a month or $59.99 a year ($4.99 a month) and includes unlimited invoices, estimates, purchase orders, clients and emails. New accounts get a 3-day free trial without a credit card. Documents carry your logo and brand color on one of 8 templates, and nothing from Invoxa. Clients open documents from a link without an account, approve estimates online, and pay through your own Stripe account, by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or the other methods you turn on there. Invoxa runs in the browser and in an iPhone app, in English; an Android app is in development. There is no bookkeeping, no automatic payment reminders and one user per account. See all features.

Pricing in detail

Square's free plan costs nothing until you are paid; each online card payment then costs 3.3% + 30¢. Invoxa costs $5.99 a month, and card payments go through your Stripe account at 2.9% + 30¢ for domestic US cards. On a $100 payment that is $3.60 with Square Free and $3.20 through Stripe: 40¢ less per payment. At about 15 card payments of $100 a month the difference pays for Invoxa; below that, Square Free is cheaper. Square Plus brings the rate to 2.9% + 30¢ too, but costs $49 a month per location.

Where Square Invoices is stronger

Yes, Square Free has no monthly fee and includes unlimited invoices, estimates, recurring invoices and reminders. You pay per payment: 3.3% + 30¢ for online card payments on the free plan. Square Plus ($49 a month per location) lowers that to 2.9% + 30¢ and adds custom templates and fields.

Is Invoxa free?

You can fill in an invoice in the Invoxa invoice generator without an account. A new account gets a 3-day free trial of Invoxa Pro with no credit card; after that Pro costs $5.99 a month or $59.99 a year. There is no free plan.

When is Invoxa cheaper than Square's free plan?

On a $100 online card payment Square Free charges $3.60 and Stripe charges $3.20, so you save 40¢ per payment with Invoxa. At about 15 such payments a month the savings cover Invoxa Pro at $5.99. With fewer card payments, Square Free costs less.
