How it works

  1. Fill in the receipt

Type straight onto the receipt: your business, your customer, what they paid for, tax and how they paid. Add your logo if you have one.

  2. Download the PDF

One click, no account. A receipt paid in full gets a PAID mark; the PDF is made in your browser, in US Letter or A4.

  3. Send or print it

Email the PDF to your customer or print it. Save it to a free Invoxa account to keep it as a paid invoice with your other records.

Receipt templates

Each template sets the title and the fields; what you have typed stays when you switch.

What to put on a receipt

A receipt is proof of payment for your customer and a record for you. A good one answers who paid whom, for what, how much and how.

Your business
Name, address, phone or email, and a tax ID if you have one.
Receipt number and date
A number of your own (R-0001, R-0002 …) and the day the money was received.
Who paid
The customer’s name, and their address or email when they need it for their records.
What was paid for
Each item or service with its quantity and price.
Tax and discount
Sales tax, VAT or GST with its rate, and any discount.
Total and amount paid
The total, the amount received and, after a deposit, the balance still due.
How it was paid
Cash, card, bank transfer or check; card endings and check numbers help both sides.

Frequently asked questions

Is the receipt maker really free?

Yes. Fill in the receipt, add your logo and download the PDF as many times as you like, with no account and no trial. The PDF carries one small line in the footer, "Made with Invoxa · invoxa.com"; nothing is printed over your receipt.

What should a receipt include?

Your business name and contact details, a receipt number, the date of the payment, who paid, what they paid for (items, quantities and prices), any tax and discount, the total, the amount paid and how it was paid. If only part was paid, the balance still due. The receipt maker has a place for each of these.

What is the difference between a receipt and an invoice?

An invoice asks for payment and says when it is due; a receipt confirms that a payment was received. Businesses that are paid on the spot usually give only a receipt. If you need to ask for payment first, use the free invoice generator.

Can I make a receipt for a deposit or a partial payment?

Yes. Type the amount received in "Amount paid": the receipt shows the total, the amount paid and the balance due, and leaves out the PAID mark. Leave the field empty when the customer paid in full.

Can I make a cash, rent or donation receipt?

Yes. Pick the template in the settings: simple, sales, cash, payment, rent or donation. Each sets the title and the fields, for example the property and rental period on a rent receipt. In the US, a donation of $250 or more needs a written acknowledgment that says whether the donor received any goods or services in return; the donation template reminds you to add that statement.

Do I need an account?

No. You need one only if you want Invoxa to keep your records: "Save to a free account" moves the receipt into a new account as a paid invoice with the payment recorded, next to your clients and reports, so you do not type it again.

Where is my receipt stored?

In your browser only. The PDF is made on your device, and what you type is kept in this browser's local storage so the receipt is still here when you come back. Nothing is sent to Invoxa unless you choose "Save to a free account". "Start over" clears it.

Which currencies and paper sizes can I use?

More than 40 currencies, from the US dollar, euro and pound to the rupee, peso and naira, with the right symbol in the PDF. The PDF is US Letter or A4; we pick the size your country uses, and you can change it.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes, in any current mobile browser. For receipts and invoices on the go there is also the Invoxa app for iPhone and Android.
